Why do we shake hands when we meet? To make contact of course!

When you step forward in the process of taking this action you are basically stepping into someone’s personal zone to find out how someone is feeling at that moment. By adding a smile to the process of meeting someone you can put that person at ease and create a place where it feels safe in which you can work together and be there for each other.

NamasteNot in every culture it is common to shake hands. In the east people bow to each other with their hands pressed together in front of their chest. You can hear the words such as “Namaste” in India and “Konnichiwa” in Japan.

What happens here is that people also look each other in the eye during the process of greeting. This way contact is being made and they gauge the atmosphere in which they are presented. In both cultures you can expect to see a slight smile on their faces.

Laughing together is a way of connecting and strengthening contact. By creating a stronger bond by making contact an atmosphere is created in which people feel good, working together is being optimized and achievements add up.

What if we started laughing together? Because laughter is a powerful element in creating connection it is nearly impossible to not feel more connected with each other after a bout of laugher.

Especially on the work floor this has a very positive effect. When you feel connected with each other it is also easier to receive feedback and to work together on future projects. Laughing together is a way of granting each other’s happiness, creativity and health.

Laughing together = making friends

When you are laughing together it becomes easier to be friends. Research has shown that laughing together reduces bullying at schools and companies, and that achievements and pleasure adds up.
